fire. he was in asia last thursday when the disasterpened. we have the reaction from the governor. >> the governor just landed to take a tour of the disaster zone. he'd been on a trade mission since that explosion and happened to be taking off today. and if you look behind me we're not far from the explosion site. there are some people in those white cover all safety uniforms there that are homeowner who's are able to get back to their homes for the first time. so today is the first time the governor is seeing the devastation for himself like those residents back there. did he get continuous updates and has the lieutenant governor as acting governor coordinating everything in his absence. the governor said he's glad california's estate is ready to act and respond quickly. and says thoughts and prayers to families of the victims and the three still missing. for the investigation the

governor wants answers and vows for truth to come out. >> if there is a faumt or a problem or something not maintained whatever it may be you will know there. is no hiding of information. i can guarantee you that. i will get the reports and i'm on that because i'm a big believer in not so much pointing finger buzz only thing that's we can learn from mistakes made is by looking into this and acknowledging it honestly. making changes so it doesn't happen again that. is how we can cut down this kind of tragedies. it's the most important thing. >> and the governor heads back to los angeles for a much-needed rest i'm sure after the long flight there. is talk in sacramento to try to get safety measures in place to prevent this tragic accident from happening again. >> thank you. >> a section on the same

pipeline that exploded in san bruno runs under south san francisco. that section was supposed to be repaired last year and this never was. >> pg&e won approveal to raise your rates to replace the potentially dangerous section of pipe. the work was never done. the section located two miles north of san bruno on the same gas line that blew on thursday. pg&e told regulators free years ago a section of pipe under south san francisco posed a high risk of failure. the utility raised gas rates to pay for a replacement project. however the work was delayed until 2013 which now has consumer advocates concerned. >> this is incumbent on pg&e and regulators to get this

system back in shape so that people can rest easily in their homes and not be afraid that they're going to be subject to another incident. >> and you can see red lines on the map showing where the pipelines run. that is unsettling for san francisco official who's want to know exactly where the pipelines are located. >> the system is rather old. it's concerning for sure. we'd like to get a better understanding what is out there what the condition is of the pipe and then take action. pg&e, in this case to remember dhi situation. >> the city manager says pg&e so far won't provide the location of the aging pipe citing security reasons and in a statement pg&e says the south san francisco pipe was not the section involved in the incident. we're committed to performing the work to assure safety of our transmission system.

pg&e did identify this line section as being a high priority project. based on updated assessment we rescheduled the project. the repairs of the pipeline are scheduled to happen in 2013 the rule will be keeping track of this. >> thank you. >> and we want to share remarkable story of heroism that came out of the explosion and fire. more people might have died had it not been for quick thinking bravery of three men who rushed in as many others were rushing out. >> picture this. five elderly women inside that have home some in wheelchairs and at least one confined to her bed. they were alone because one of the care givers had gone outside to get help and the second fled the scene apparently because she was scared. these three men came along and saved them.

flames were quickly consuming homes. heat and smoke were unbearable. bobby and his father ran into a woman ut side of the golden era care home yelling for help. >> we're just yelling down the street making sure everybody was out. and we met fanny who is now i find out is arnold's mom screaming outside. i asked what is wrong. if anyone was inside. she said yes. come help me. >> inside were women in their 80s and 90s left alone who had to be rescued in a hurry. a third man named frank joined n they were thought they were done. they discovered one more woman in a back room. a 96-year-old mary sweeney deaf and confined to a bed. >> we lifted her up. and all three of us my dad, frank and i out of the bed wheeled her out as far as we could. then heat was just so bad. so hot wex lifted her up and threw her into a car just to
